Sir Jean Etienne Moilin Ah-Chuen (Chinese: 朱梅麟; 1911–1991) was a Sino-Mauritian politician and businessman from Mauritius. He was First Chinese Cabinet Minister from 1967 to 1976 and First Chinese Member, Legislative Council in 1949. He was decorated by Pope John Paul II and knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.[1] He is also the founder ABC Group, a diversified conglomerate with investments in banking, foods industry, automobile, and shipping in Mauritius.

The Père Laval Shrine in Port Louis, Mauritius, is a significant religious site dedicated to the French Catholic missionary Père Jacques-Désiré Laval. Known as the “Apostle of Mauritius,” Père Laval is credited with converting 67,000 people to Christianity during his 23 years on the island. The shrine is often compared to Lourdes due to the many miracles attributed to pilgrimages there.The shrine features a modern church with unique architecture, including mosaics and stained glass windows3. Pilgrims from around the world visit, especially on September 9th, the anniversary of Père Laval’s death.
Ganga Talao, also known as Grand Bassin, is a sacred crater lake located in the Savanne district of Mauritius. Situated about 550 meters above sea level, it is considered the most sacred Hindu site on the island.
The lake is surrounded by temples dedicated to various Hindu deities, including Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman, Goddess Ganga, and Lord Ganesh¹. One of the most significant events at Ganga Talao is the Maha Shivaratri festival, during which thousands of pilgrims make their way to the lake, often walking barefoot from their homes.

The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden (sometimes shortened to the SSR Botanic Garden), commonly known as the Pamplemousses Botanic Garden, is a popular tourist attraction in Pamplemousses, near Port Louis, Mauritius, and the oldest botanical garden in the Southern Hemisphere. Famous for its long pond of giant water lilies (Victoria amazonica), the garden, first constructed by Pierre Poivre (1719 – 1786) in 1770, covers an area of around 37 hectares (91 acres).[1]
